Ingredients
1 large fresh aloe vera leaf
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (or contents of 2 vitamin E capsules)
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for dry skin)
1 teaspoon glycerin (optional)
3–5 drops lavender essential oil (optional, for fragrance)
—
Step 1: Harvest the Aloe Vera
Choose a mature aloe vera leaf from the outer part of the plant. Wash it thoroughly under cool running water.
—
Step 2: Remove the Yellow Sap
Stand the leaf upright in a glass or bowl for 10–15 minutes to allow the yellow latex (aloin) to drain. This sap can irritate the skin.
—
Step 3: Peel the Leaf
Lay the leaf flat on a cutting board.
Trim off the spiny edges.
Slice away the top layer of skin.
Scoop out the clear gel with a clean spoon.
—
Step 4: Blend the Gel
Place the aloe gel in a blender or food processor and blend for 30–60 seconds until smooth.
—
Step 5: Add the Remaining Ingredients
Add:
Vitamin E oil
Coconut oil (optional)
Glycerin (optional)
Lavender essential oil (optional)
Blend again until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
—
Step 6: Transfer to a Jar
Pour the finished gel into a clean, sterilized glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.
—
Step 7: Refrigerate
Store the gel in the refrigerator for 30–60 minutes before first use. The cool temperature creates a refreshing feel on the skin.
—
Step 8: How to Apply
1. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
2. Pat your skin dry.
3. Apply a thin layer of the aloe gel to your face and neck.
4. Gently massage using upward circular motions for 2–3 minutes.
5. Leave it on for 20–30 minutes, or use a small amount as an overnight moisturizer if your skin tolerates it.
6. Rinse with lukewarm water if desired.
—
Step 9: Frequency
Apply 3–4 times per week.
Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin 24 hours before first use to check for irritation.
—
Storage
Keep refrigerated in a sealed container.
Use within 5–7 days if made from fresh aloe without preservatives.
Important Note
This gel can help hydrate and soothe the skin, which may temporarily improve its appearance, but it will not remove wrinkles permanently or restore youthful skin. For proven wrinkle treatments, ingredients such as sunscreen, retinoids, vitamin C, and moisturizers have stronger scientific evidence.
