🌶️ Homemade Jalapeño Salt

Ingredients

  • ½ cup dehydrated jalapeños (about 10 jalapeños)
  • 1 cup coarse kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the jalapeños: Slice fresh jalapeños into thin rounds. Remove the seeds if you prefer a milder flavor.
  2. Dehydrate: Dry the jalapeño slices in a food dehydrator until they are completely crisp and contain no moisture. You can also use a very low oven temperature, checking frequently to prevent browning.
  3. Grind: Once completely dry, place the jalapeños in a spice grinder or food processor. Pulse until they become small flakes or a fine powder, depending on your preference.
  4. Combine: Mix the dehydrated jalapeños with 1 cup of coarse kosher salt.
  5. Store: Transfer the mixture to a completely dry, airtight glass jar.
  6. Use: Sprinkle it over eggs, roasted vegetables, fries, popcorn, grilled chicken, tacos, avocado, potatoes, or even homemade guacamole.

Tip: Make sure the jalapeños are fully dehydrated before mixing them with the salt. Any remaining moisture can reduce shelf life.

🌶️ Flavor idea: For a smoky version, use smoked salt or add a little dried smoked pepper to the mixture.
