🌶️ Homemade Jalapeño Salt
Ingredients
- ½ cup dehydrated jalapeños (about 10 jalapeños)
- 1 cup coarse kosher salt
Instructions
- Prepare the jalapeños: Slice fresh jalapeños into thin rounds. Remove the seeds if you prefer a milder flavor.
- Dehydrate: Dry the jalapeño slices in a food dehydrator until they are completely crisp and contain no moisture. You can also use a very low oven temperature, checking frequently to prevent browning.
- Grind: Once completely dry, place the jalapeños in a spice grinder or food processor. Pulse until they become small flakes or a fine powder, depending on your preference.
- Combine: Mix the dehydrated jalapeños with 1 cup of coarse kosher salt.
- Store: Transfer the mixture to a completely dry, airtight glass jar.
- Use: Sprinkle it over eggs, roasted vegetables, fries, popcorn, grilled chicken, tacos, avocado, potatoes, or even homemade guacamole.
Tip: Make sure the jalapeños are fully dehydrated before mixing them with the salt. Any remaining moisture can reduce shelf life.
🌶️ Flavor idea: For a smoky version, use smoked salt or add a little dried smoked pepper to the mixture.
