Here’s a long, easy-to-follow recipe for a Rosemary & Clove Herbal Infusion. While rosemary and cloves are commonly used in traditional home remedies, there isn’t strong scientific evidence that this mixture provides the dramatic benefits often claimed on social media.
Rosemary & Clove Herbal Infusion
Ingredients
4–5 fresh rosemary sprigs (or 2 tablespoons dried rosemary)
1 tablespoon whole cloves (about 15–20 cloves)
3 cups (750 ml) water
1 teaspoon honey (optional)
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Wash the Rosemary
Rinse the fresh rosemary thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
Step 2: Prepare the Cloves
Measure the whole cloves. Lightly crush them with the back of a spoon to help release their natural oils.
Step 3: Boil the Water
Pour 3 cups of water into a saucepan and bring it to a gentle boil.
Step 4: Add the Herbs
Once the water boils:
Add the rosemary.
Add the crushed cloves.
Step 5: Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10–15 minutes.
Step 6: Steep
Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let it steep for another 10 minutes.
Step 7: Strain
Pour the infusion through a fine strainer into a mug or glass container, removing the herbs and cloves.
Step 8: Optional Flavor
Stir in honey and lemon juice if desired.
How to Use
Drink 1 cup once or twice daily while warm.
It can also be cooled and used as a hair rinse after shampooing. Massage into the scalp, leave for 5–10 minutes, then rinse with water.
Storage
Store leftovers in a sealed glass jar in the refrigerator.
Use within 2–3 days.
Note
Avoid consuming large amounts of cloves regularly, as they contain eugenol, which may not be suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have liver disease, take blood-thinning medications, or have a medical condition, consult a healthcare professional before using herbal remedies regularly.
